Fear is a signal.

Above vs. Below the Line of Fear.
Above vs. Below the Line of Fear.

With the “Above / Below the Line” framework, you can recognize fear as a signal and regain control!

Below the Line - When fear takes over

When fear takes over, you fall into one of the following three roles:

  • Hero: “I’d rather do everything myself.”

  • Villain: “I don’t care what other people think.”

  • Victim: “Everything always ends up falling on me anyway.”

In this framework, that’s called “below the line.”

Below the Line: When fear takes over...
Below the Line: When fear takes over...

You’re below the fear line. To get back on top, you need to recognize the signs:

Listen to your inner voice, whether you’re saying it out loud or just hearing it in your head. The three roles—hero, villain, and victim—are clearly identifiable by what they say. Learn to recognize them, and then switch to one of the following actions:

Above the Line - Recognize the signs of fear and take one of the following actions:

  • (Co-) Creating: “Let's figure this out together!"

  • Coaching: “We are not there yet. What steps do you think we need to take next?”

  • Challenging: “Can you elaborate you? I think you can go deeper!”

Use the fact that you know you're afraid of something right now, and take one of these 3 actions instead of falling into a destructive pattern!

Above the Line: You are aware of your fear and you're in the driver's seat!

Learn to recognize the signal and respond to it without letting fear take control!

Is your fear holding you back, and are you unable to move forward on your own?

Reach out and let's get to know each other:

If we are a fit, let's work together to conquer your fear and get you above the line more often!
